The Department is interdisciplinary. Academic disciplines such as History, International Relations and European Studies are covered and complement one another.

The aim at the Department of History, Politics and International Studies is to be a point of reference, both in Cyprus and internationally, in the subjects of its respective disciplines. Its foremost targets are excellence in teaching and in research. Concomitantly, the Department constantly enrich its existing local and international networks for the benefit of all members of the academic community.

In order to accomplish its declared objectives, the Department offers high-quality university studies. At the same time, it participates in the international scientific dialogue through the work and activities of its members and contributes to the advancement of scientific knowledge. In the process, students of the Department become acquainted with the research work of the faculty. This experience is particularly beneficial to the graduate and doctoral candidates.

OUR COLLABORATORS

Beyond cooperating with local agencies, the Department is developing international partnerships. So far, it has been cooperating with the Centre for International and European Political Economy and Governance of the University of Peloponnisos (Greece). This cooperation includes a joint doctoral dissertation program.

The Department has also been cooperation with the European Network of Political Institutions, based in Brussels.

It is also an active member of the United Nations Academic Impact Curriculum and participates in international scientific associations in disciplines associated with its fields of study.

The Departmeny is a full member of the European Doctoral School on the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) Initiative

Finally, the Department is actively involved in networks of academic exchanges and partnerships, the most prominent of which is the Erasmus program.

Antonis Klapsis is Assistant Professor of Diplomacy and International Organization at the Department of Political Science and International Relations of the University of Peloponnese.
