Interlibrary Loan Network between Cyprus and Greece

BIBLIOGRAPHY SUPPORT GUIDE TO INTERLIBRARY LOAN AND ACCESS TO PRINTED MATERIAL OF GREEK AND CYPRIOT DISTANCE STUDENTS OF NEAPOLIS UNIVERSITY.

The Library of NEAPOLIS University, in the context of serving the ever-increasing demands for the most complete possible coverage in printed bibliographic material of its distance students, both in Cyprus and Greece, provides a Guide with the necessary information.

CYPRUS

Access to printed bibliographic material through Interlibrary loan procedures to collaborating Academic Libraries and Organizations-Catalog-Procedures-Information.

Those of our distance students from Cyprus region, may see just below the list of Libraries to which they can access their needed book material through our University. Initially and if the material is checked and not found in our collection they can proceed by checking  to which one of the following Libraries has the material they are looking for to their collection. The relevant links are provided with online access to the Library Catalogs respectively where students can conduct search.

Procedures to be followed

When the book/s is located, students send us an electronic request for interlibrary loan to the University of Neapolis Library email: [email protected] . Books can either be requested to be sent to the Neapolis Paphos Library or, if necessary, to be picked up by the student himself at the Library where the presumption is.

An electronic request is sent from the Neapolis Library to the respective interlibrary loan office of the local Library with the student details and the requested items.

The student is then informed electronically about date and time of receipt of the requested material. The charging costs are taken by the applicant and covers the price paid by the Library to the supplier plus and shipping costs.

Access through Interlibrary loan to collaborating Academic Libraries-Catalog-Procedures-Information.

Those of our distance students who live in Greece nearby to one of the following collaborating Academic Library Institutions and need access to material lending, should first check through the provided links with online access to the Library Catalogs respectively, if the needed material belongs to their collection.

In case needed material is found to one of the following Libraries then the following procedure is followed.

Procedure to be followed

Students send an electronic request for interlibrary loan to the Neapolis Library email: [email protected]. with the data of the books and the Library collection where they belong, where the items will be received.

An electronic request is sent from the Neapolis Library to the respective interlibrary loan office of the local Library with the student details and the requested items.

The students are then informed electronically about date and time of receiving requested material, necessary carrying with them their ID card or with their student ID. This process will be repeated whenever there is a new request.

The following is a category with Libraries of Academic Institutions and Organizations in Greece, in which our students can use and borrow material with the status of external user.

Registration fees are FREE, except for the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Ioannina where the relevant fee is paid depending on the time of use of the service.

First of all, our students should check from the relevant links that are listed if there is the material of interest and then go to the respective local Libraries with their student ID or with their ID card where they fill in a form and apply to become members as external users. Then will be able to be served WITHOUT our mediation.

The inter-branch lending service between the branches for transferring a book from one Library to another also applies on a case by case basis at the corresponding cost borne by the user.

* The registration rights for the use of the service with the status of External User are FREE with the exceptions of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Ioannina as well as the Branches of the Libraries of the TEI of Epirus * which were integrated in the University of Ioannina depending on the time use of the service.

In the Libraries of EKPA (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens) (search in the single catalog here) with the necessary condition of having the ID card, there is the possibility of access to reading rooms, electronic databases, as well as the possibility of short-term borrowing of printed material at almost a day and photocopies at the premises of the University.

Corresponding services are provided in the Libraries of the Athens University of Economics and Business (ASOEE)

and the Alexandrea Library at TEI of Thessaloniki (International University of Thessaloniki) located at Sindos area. Regarding the material, there is the possibility ONLY for photocopies of funds on the premises of the Universities with the presentation of the ID card WITHOUT the possibility of borrowing even short term.
