It supports multidisciplinary research across subjects such as business, psychology, education, health, social sciences, humanities and science. The specific databases available depend on the University’s EBSCO subscription.
Emerald – A scholarly research platform providing academic journals, eBooks and case studies. It is particularly strong in business, management, economics, education, marketing, human resource management and the social sciences, and is useful for both academic research and real-world business case studies.
JSTOR – A major digital library containing scholarly journals, academic books, primary sources and images. It is particularly valuable for historical and archival research and has strong collections in the humanities, social sciences, arts, history, economics and political science.
LexisNexis Academic / Nexis Uni – A multidisciplinary research platform specialising in news, business, company and legal information. It provides access to thousands of trusted international sources and is useful for researching current affairs, companies, industries, legal topics and historical news coverage. LexisNexis identifies Nexis Uni as the successor to LexisNexis Academic, so this name should also probably be updated on the NUP page.
Oxford Academic – Oxford University Press’s academic research platform, offering scholarly journals, books and research collections across almost all academic disciplines. It is especially useful for authoritative, peer-reviewed research in the humanities, social sciences, law, medicine and sciences.
Oxford Art Online – A specialist resource for research in art, architecture and visual culture. It includes Grove Art Online and other major Oxford reference works, with scholarly articles on artists, artistic movements, artworks, architecture and art history from prehistory to the present.
Oxford Music Online – A specialist reference resource for music research. It provides authoritative information on composers, musicians, musical works, instruments, genres and the history of music, including content from Grove Music Online and other Oxford music reference works.
Oxford Reference – An online collection of Oxford University Press dictionaries, encyclopedias and companions. It is ideal for quick definitions, background information, key concepts, biographies and introductory research across more than 20 subject areas.
ProQuest Central & ProQuest Dissertations & Theses – ProQuest Central is a large multidisciplinary research database containing scholarly journals, newspapers, magazines, reports, case studies, dissertations and other academic material. ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global specialises in master’s and doctoral research from universities around the world and is especially useful for literature reviews and identifying previous research on a topic.
ProQuest Ebook Central – An academic eBook platform bringing together books from thousands of publishers across a wide range of disciplines. Students can search, read and, where permitted, download academic books and chapters for coursework, literature reviews and research.
Refinitiv Eikon / LSEG Workspace – A professional financial research platform providing real-time and historical financial-market data, company information, economic data, financial news and analytical tools. It is particularly useful for students and researchers in finance, banking, investment, accounting and economics. The Refinitiv brand and Eikon product have now been retired and replaced by LSEG Workspace, so I would recommend updating this entry on the NUP website. It is particularly useful for students and researchers studying Greek law. (Requires login credentials provided by the Library)
SAGE – Provides access to peer-reviewed academic journals across the social sciences, humanities, psychology, education, business, health sciences, science and technology. The Digital Archive also provides access to historical journal content and earlier research publications.
Springer Nature Link – A multidisciplinary academic platform providing scholarly journals, eBooks, reference works and research publications. It has particularly strong coverage in science, engineering, computer science, mathematics, medicine, environmental sciences, business and social sciences.
Taylor & Francis Online – Provides access to thousands of peer-reviewed academic journals covering a broad range of disciplines, including social sciences, humanities, education, psychology, business, economics, engineering, science and health.
Westlaw International – An international legal research resource providing access to authoritative legal information from multiple jurisdictions. Depending on the subscribed collections, users can research case law, legislation, regulations, legal commentary and international or cross-border legal issues.
Westlaw UK – A specialist legal research database for United Kingdom law. It provides access to cases, legislation, legal journals, commentary and legal updates covering England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. It is particularly useful for legal research, case analysis and checking current legislation.
Wiley Online Library – A multidisciplinary academic platform offering scholarly journals, eBooks and reference works. Its collections cover life and health sciences, physical sciences, engineering, business, economics, psychology, social sciences and humanities.
