IDEATE

Inclusion and Diversity Education through Applied Design Thinking for Equity

The objective of the IDEATE Project is to develop and implement an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) interdisciplinary training programme to be taught at all partnering universities based on innovation training through Applied Design Thinking workshops to educate both staff and students. This will stimulate innovative learning and teaching practices as well as build more inclusive higher education systems to ensure that all students have equitable access to quality education and the opportunities they need to succeed.

All partners will conduct EDI workshops in Cyprus, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Sweden, fostering innovative solutions and EDI initiatives. Outcomes from these workshops will lay the groundwork for the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Training Program, which will be available as a 7.5 ECTS university course or split into three stackable micro-credential courses, providing flexibility and adaptability for diverse learning requirements and preferences.

Implementing the EDI courses will help to reduce inequalities, foster diversity, and support success for all students. They can encourage innovative teaching practices, broaden perspectives, and promote critical thinking among students and faculty. By addressing biases and promoting inclusive practices, universities can create a supportive learning environment, ensure equitable access to education and promote the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in our European society.
